Savanna:

(Also spelled savannah.) A grasslandwoodland mosiac vegetation type found in tropical and subtropical regions with long dry periods and receiving more rainfall than desert areas but not enough to support complete forest cover. A savanna is characterized by scattered trees or scattered clumps of trees and droughtresistant grasses. Fire often plays an important role in maintaining the vegetation.
